Hello all of you beautiful people!
First of all, welcome back! I did take a month break after posting 5 newsletters. Why? It’s kind of complicated. If you ask any writer (like literally any writer) ‘what is the worst thing about being a writer?’ They’ll most likely answer themselves. I don’ know why but after I made the newsletter I was ecstatic and happy! But, that novelty wore off pretty quickly and I began to doubt myself. I was asking myself questions I didn’t think I would be asking myself. Should I be doing this? Does anybody care for what I have to say? Have I bit off more than I can chew? Why did I tell so many people?
Then to top the fucking cherry on top of the cake (is that the saying?), I got writers block. My diary said I should have 6 completed scripts of my comic “The Weather Prince” by now…. I’ve only completed one while just only starting the second. What’s happening? I don’t know…. Now I’m back at Uni full time, that sucks ass. Who convinced me to do science anyways, oh yeah, me. But after contemplating all of my life decisions, that’s okay. I’m allowed to be behind on schedule. Is it ideal? Of course not. But I have to live with it. A big part of it I think is because I was on holidays, I had no structure to my day. My sleep schedule was whack, I was basically a vampire/zombie hybrid. But, now that I’m back at Uni (still sucks ass) full time with a proper working schedule I can fit writing into it at specific times. And so far, it’s working.
AS I was saying, I’m back baby, and better then ever. And that is also because… if you didn’t notice, I have a logo!!! Doesn’t she look beautiful. My amazing and talented friend Kayla designed it for me. She is an absolute gem, you should go follow her on instagram to see more of her gorgeous art work.
I knew once I had a logo made, I had to actually work hard on this. So, I came up with a structure. Starting next week or so I am going to be posting my pull list every week, cause that’s the easiest thing to do. I’m going to continue doing these writing posts (more on that down below), and a science blog(y) kind of thing which will be posted once a fortnight. I’m currently writing a few of these, and boy, do they take time. I have to make sure they’re accurate (scientifically), cause I ain’t about spreading that misinformation. As well as getting it drafted by my fellow peers which is also a process. The first one is easy and is a basic geological concept, Rock types! Look out for that next week!!!
Now, back to my other love (god, I feel like I’m cheating) writing. GUYS I HAVE A SECRET….. writing a comic is really hard, like, really really hard. I was not expecting that. I mean, I have the story there in my head, put it on paper yeah sure, but then what else. I don’t know which way panels should go, how they effect the story. I don’t know how to world build. So many other tings… But, don’t worry I will get there. Just not as fast as I would have liked. I learned that’s ok. You can’t rush these kind of things.
One last thing before I go play Marvel’s Avengers instead of watching lectures. Making a comic, as I said, isn’t easy. But it ain’t cheap as well. Especially if you’re an independent writer without a publisher. I’m still deciding if I want a publisher or not. Anyways, I’m thinking of introducing a monthly subscription not next week, but the week after. It’ll only be $7, that for me is my large iced vanilla oat milk latte. So, if you can afford a boujee coffee each month please consider subscribing to my newsletter. Or just DM me or comment below and tell me if I should or not. What will you get? My undeserving, unconditional love. AND never before read short stories that I have written. I promise they’re worth it.
OK. Thank you all for reading this tangent. Next week you can (finally) read my thoughts on Scott Snyders Comic 101 Writing Class (it’s god tier). and you’ll get to learn about different rock types.
Okie dokie I’ll see you next time :)
Stay safe and be kind
